Lyne James Turnbull

Lyne James Turnbull has served children and families of the Bronx since 2001 as an educator. As a proud Caribbean native, born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands, she entered the NYC public school system as a high school student in 1990. Upon graduation, she attended SUNY schools. She holds an associate’s degree in Medical Technology from Alfred State College, a bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University in Clinical Science, a master’s  in Middle School Education from Mercy College and her second master's in School Building Leadership from Bank
Street College.

 

As a product of New York public schools, she was uniquely prepared to take on her current role of Founding Principal of New Pathways Academy (NPA)in the South Bronx in 2018. Even though she served as an Assistant Principal for 8 years at the Bronx School Law, Government and Justice, a Principal for the past 7 years; her greatest joy is teaching. A 10-year teaching journey that is defined by having the privilege of teaching Math and Science to elementary, middle and high school students across the Bronx. She is so humbled by the achievements that NPA has made over the last 7 years. However, her journey continues with building leadership capacity among her staff, as well as mentoring new Principals in Community School District 9.

 

Lyne is currently laser focused on NPA embarking into its new chapter of becoming an International Baccalaureate World School. Lyne is also a proud mom to 3 beautiful adult children and a 3 year old poodle, Kali.
